Spanish materials include a comprehensive understanding of assessment as the way to document content learning, language development, and biliteracy through multiple qualitative and quantitative, formal and informal data sources.

Spanish materials include assessment that is formative and authentic, designed in Spanish, and that validates and integrates Spanish varieties.

Spanish materials integrate assessment approaches/practices that afford students multiple and varied opportunities to represent their understanding using their whole linguistic repertoire in the four language domains (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
Guideline 4
Spanish materials highlight the importance of peer- and self-assessment strategies to promote student agency, increase metacognitive awareness, and encourage critical reflection on their own learning.
