ELSF has released a new series of resources—"Do's and Don'ts of EL Instruction"—to address problems of practice for Educators.
The series kicks off with one resource for for ELA: "Do Leveled Readers Hurt or Help My ELs?" by Farah Assiraj and Lily Wong Fillmore, and one for Math: "Fractions, Factors and Functions, Oh My! Are My ELs Attaching Meaning to Math Words?" by Colette Kang and William Zahner.
Each of these resources provides a list of practices to use (and avoid) based on the latest research on EL instruction and our ELSF Guidelines.
