If we really want to support California’s teachers, start with a better curriculum

On Sept. 8, Capitol Weekly published an article by Crystal Gonzales, If We Really Want to Support California's Teachers, Start With a Better Curriculum highlighting how California teachers would benefit from districts adopting rigorous materials that are inclusive of multilingual learners during the upcoming adoption cycle.
Because when instructional materials aren't designed with multilingual learners in mind, teachers are left to fill the gaps —rewriting lessons, translating materials and creating supplemental resources — on top of everything else their jobs demand.
Adoption cycles like this don’t come around often, which means California’s education leaders are currently determining what instructional materials will sit on teachers’ desks — and in students’ hands — for years to come.
