AI has moved past the horizon and into the instructional materials market, powering features such as adaptive tutoring and feedback chatbots, and supporting content generation across a wide range of core and supplemental products. As this technology scales, one standard persists: research-based multilingual learner product design does not change because the medium does. Instructional materials must maintain cognitive rigor, build academic language, and honor students' cultural and linguistic assets, even when AI is part of the development process or classroom experience.

This session covers what that standard looks like in practice, where AI-generated content or AI-powered tools tend to fall short for multilingual learners, and why expert human oversight belongs in the product development process itself, not just as a final check.
