We’ll begin with ELSF’s Benchmarks of Quality for Spanish Language Arts, looking at the features that distinguish high-quality SLA materials, including Spanish literacy development, students’ bilingualism, authentic language and culture, and linguistically inclusive assessment.

Then we’ll hear directly from district and county leaders about how these issues show up in practice. Through a candid conversation, they’ll share what they are seeing in SLA materials, the challenges they are navigating, and the considerations shaping adoption and implementation decisions in their systems.

About the Webinar:

We’ll examine SLA materials through ELSF’s five Benchmarks of Quality, including what distinguishes high-quality Spanish Language Arts materials from materials that simply mirror or translate an English product.

We’ll then hear directly from practitioners about how these issues show up in real district adoption and implementation decisions.

In this session, you’ll walk away with:

  • Firsthand insight from district and county leaders on the realities of SLA materials selection and quality.
  • A look at how ELSF’s Benchmarks of Quality can be used to evaluate Spanish Language Arts materials.
  • A clearer understanding of why developing and sustaining students’ home language matters for literacy and learning.
  • An opportunity to join ELSF’s call to action urging educational publishers to prioritize high-quality Spanish Language Arts materials.

Intended Audience:

Educational Leaders directly engaged in curriculum adoption and implementation processes. This includes Directors, Teachers on Special Assignments (TOSAs), Superintendents, School Board members, School Principals, district curriculum specialists, and instructional coaches and leads.
