Students build on Lesson 5 by deepening their understanding of the concept of a figurative great heart through careful observation of a painting.
In this lesson, students build on lesson 5 by reacting to a painting and exploring a connected quotation. Over the course of the lesson, students practice skills and strategies designed to develop literal comprehension. The lesson then moves students into an analysis and synthesis of the important ideas related to a figurative great heart.
