Do’s and Don’ts to support multilingual learners in developing mathematical discourse skills development
ELSF has developed a 4-step protocol along, with accompanying guidance in the form of a list of Do’s and Dont’s, to support the development of a mathematics discourse community. This approach engages students in problem solving, provides multiple entry points to represent solutions using multimodal representation, and utilizing their home language to facilitate language development.
