Valentyna Banner began her educational career as a 4th grade educator at a school for Somali refugees and is currently the Director of Academic Achievement at San Diego Global Vision Academy, a Title One Tk-8th charter school with a focus on inquiry, social justice, leadership, and social-emotional learning. She oversees the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and student programming like the English Language Development program. She has a Masters degree in Teaching Tk-8th Mathematics from San Diego State University and a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from the University of San Diego. She is also a Teaching Consultant for the San Diego Area Writing Project where she leads professional learning in all content areas. She believes that all students are capable of brilliance and deserve a high-quality education with access to high level learning. She enjoys spending time at the beach and event planning.
