Sharon is a former teacher and college professor who has taught in Boston, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. Most recently she taught at Edgewood College in Madison Wisconsin where she led the Reading Program and taught courses on language and literacy development for graduate students in the teacher education program. She also worked on the WIDA 2020 standards revision project. Prior to that she spent nine years in Hong Kong teaching Hong Kong teachers how to teach English as a foreign language and doing research on access to English and equity. Her current role is a curriculum designer specializing in support for English language learners for EL Education. She received her PhD in Language, Literacy and Culture at UC Berkeley.
