Mercedes Seamon is a Senior Manager consultant in the field of English Learner Academics. She writes and delivers professional development curriculum primarily in Texas. Her work has been focused on multilingual learners and the delivery of high quality instructional materials in dual language classrooms. She holds an undergraduate degree in Professional Administration, Human Resources Management, and Education. She holds a M.S. in Educational Leadership. She has taught Bilingual education (English/Spanish), Math, Special Education, and English as a Second Language.
Mercedes grew up in Miami,Florida and learned firsthand the impact of language, culture, experience and opportunity on students in America’s classrooms. She is a first generation Cuban American who currently resides in Fort Worth, TX. She has taught in New Mexico, North Carolina, and Texas. She also taught English to students who live abroad via a virtual platform. In her previous leadership role, she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the ESL program for one of the largest districts in the DFW area.
Mercedes is highly regarded by her peers and has worked as a pilot trainer and lead trainer for the TEA CRIMSI project in partnership with TNTP for the Spanish Language Arts and Reading content. This project has impacted over 10,000 educators in the state of Texas. Those who have worked with Mercedes find her to be knowledgeable, passionate, funny, and flexible in her approach to meeting the wide variety of needs of varying instructional settings.
