Keely Machmer-Wessels

Keely Machmer-Wessels has taught mathematics to grades 7-16 and is a middle school math coach for Oakland Unified School District. She has a BS in Mathematics from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of New Hampshire where her research focused on how novice mathematics teachers understand the Common Core Math Practices. Through coaching, PLCs, and district professional learning, Keely currently supports teachers to enact language routines and practices to engage all learners in math talk. She is passionate about creating opportunities for under-served student populations to have access to powerful mathematics learning.
